Day 10: Do you have a favorite pattern or designer?

It is so hard for me to pick one designer as my favourite, and I don’t think it would be possible for me to pick a favourite pattern. Here are my top 5 designers and my reasons for liking them.

Herbert Niebling

for his absolutely beautiful lace patterns

Jared  Flood

for his interesting colours and textures

Stephen West

for his awesome scarves

Hansi Singh

for her interesting and inventive toy patterns

Ann Hrachovec

for her interesting and inventive toy patterns

Day 9: What fiber or yarn do you love working with?

I’m a big fan of all natural fibers. I’m not a big fan of acrylic or any acrylic blends.

My all time favourite fiber is likely alpaca. All my alpaca projects are very warm and drape really nicely. Second favourite fiber is silk

As for yarn I love Berroco alpaca lace, Cascade 220, all Malabrigo varieties, Blue Sky Alpaca, some Noro (even with their flaws), Spud and Chloe, Knitpicks and Fleece Artists. I’m a bit of a yarn slut. I want to get some of the more expensive yarns to make some scarves out of.

As most of my friends probably know I love Wollmeise. I’ve never actually knit with it but I have 2 skeins of green varigate sock, 2 skeins of a red varigate sock and a skein of orient lace, and a brown lace.

Day 6: What is your favorite piece that you’ve knit?

Most of the projects I’ve knit over the last 2-3 years I’ve been fairly proud of. Everything I knit is my ‘favourite’ for various reasons.

Émilien by Ariane Caron-Lacoste

This was the first adult size sweater I’ve ever knit. It isnt particularily technical but I’m proud of the time and effort I put into it.

Hemlock Ring Blanket by Jared Flood
One of my first big projects. I still have not blocked it because I don’t know how to block things very well. One of these days I’ll bring it to a friends who can do it. Its a doily made with chunky yarn and big needles. Very neat.

Mitteldecke mit Blüten im Erbstüllgrund by Herbert Niebling
This is a tablecloth from a really old german knitting magazine. I absolutely love the pattern and I’m really proud of myself for finishing it. There is one mistake in the main pattern that you’d never notice, the edging has some mistakes but I think they blend into the pattern. Again, this needs to be blocked, it looks like a jumbled mass right now.

Day 3: Do you have any other WIPs (works in progress)?

These are all projects that I have in the background or I’ve been dragging my ass on finishing.

I have a Haruni by Emily Ross scarf I keep meaning to unravel. I like the colour of the yarn and the scarf itself is nice, I just have no motivation to finish it and I’m not very far in.

I have a Fensterbild mit Blütenmotiv und Erbstüllgrund by Herbert Niebling that I started a while ago but have not picked up in a while. Partially because I lost the pattern in amongst a stack of papers, patially because it takes a lot of concentration. I’ve already knit one and it looks absurd. I made mistakes without even realizing it because the stitch counts were right.

I have a Vicki by Sonja Esbensen and Anna Rasmussenon my needles that I’ve been passivly knitting a round here and there on. I think I’ve messed up one of the panels to the point I can’t fix it, and I am totally not ripping back to where the mistake is.

I have a Loch Ness Monster by Hansi Singhthat only needs a flipper knitted on. I need to remember to not use all the yellow yarn I have before finishing it.
